JAN HOLIK began her career as a fulltime ballroom dance instructor at the Arthur Murray Studios in Binghamton, NY; Albany, NY; and in Indianapolis, IN. Trained and tested through the Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels, both Social and International styles, the involved training she received also included teaching methods. During her career, she has attended professional workshops in NYC, Chicago, Syracuse, Rochester, and a long monthly series of workshops with a US Latin Champion.
Jan's experience includes teaching group classes, private lessons, training classes for teachers and workshops for students ranging in age from 8 to 80. Known for her relaxed manner, patience, and sense of humor, students especially appreciate the clear understandable instruction that makes learning easy and fun. She has also garnered praise for her creative choreography that's musical but stays within the boundaries of the student's abilities.
Her credits as an independent instructor include Group Classes taught at SUNY Cobleskill, SUNY Albany, Union College, Emma Willard School, Adirondack Community College, Glens Falls YMCA, Amsterdam YMCA, eba Dance Center of Albany, Glens Falls Ballet Center, Ballston Spa Continuing Ed program, Dance Crazy of Albany, and the Troy School District Continuing Ed program. She has taught Workshops for First Night Saratoga, Berkshire Community College, Berkshire Ballet, Pittsfield PE Teachers Training, and the Town of Queensbury, and the NYS Librarians Association. |
